Rehearsal #19

November 21, 2013

Many congratulations on an excellent rehearsal yesterday evening. I can't believe we've fully completed the piece choreoraphically and was so excited by all of the fascinating and creative thoughts from all production folks. I'm honored and amazed to work with each of you.

Below I've included a few notes to summarize my understanding of where we're at and where we'll aim to go on Sunday. Further below, there's some info/questions about a cast party. Please be sure to read through everything!

DANCERS
It feels great. I'm thrilled we were able to work through the entire piece and really practice the beginning chunk a few times. On Sunday, we'll aim to run the entire thing at least three times to get a feel for what it actually is and so that we can begin to feel comfortable performing it.

Between now and Sunday, if you could please go over for yourselves a few times the order of events, I would be very grateful.

Ian and Alex, would you maybe both be able to arrive a little early on Sunday to review your duet a couple of times,Alex for you to try on a couple new costume items, and Ian for you and I to rehearse our 5 jumps a couple of times?

PRODUCTION
General thoughts are that you are all wonderful. You may have heard Alexandra mention briefly to you last night that all of your work will be going into a portfolio of the entire thesis project that will have information about choreography, costumes, and all other production elements. As such, if you would each feel comfortable recording your final designs, scores, blocking, etc. as is relevant for your field in a document and submitting it to Alexandra and I by December 6th at midnight, I would be very grateful. If you have questions about specifics of the document/how to compile it, feel free to email or call me directly as format will be different for each field. Hopefully, recording all the information in document form will help for your own artist portfolios as well!

Foodies (Melanie and Phoebe)
Beautiful work. I'm very excited by your performance and how it's developing. Thank you also for working so hard to obtain the beautiful black forks despite the challenging circumstance! Would you both perhaps be available to meet with me on Sunday at 4:00pm for about 20 minutes to rehearse a few times and to develop your characters a little further?

Sound (Austin)
I'm amazed at your knowledge about sound and your creativity. Thank you for all your work. Can't wait to keep working through things on Sunday!

Light (Emily and Hillary)
Great ideas last night. I love the cue sheet as well. If you need any additional gels or information from Alexandra or I, please don't hesitate to be in touch anytime

Video (Gabe)
I love your thoughts. We can maybe test out whichever setup you had in mind on Sunday. Also, if you wouldn't mind sending me the name of your co-cameraperson, I would love to send it along to Shannon to add her to the program!

Photos (Michelle)
I'm excited to begin using your work on the Facebook page. Was the accreditation under the photo I used for my profile okay? Let me know whatever would be best for you. Can't wait to see you on Sunday!

Poster/Program (Shannon)
Beautiful work. Thank you so much. To recap, I believe we agreed that we'll put everybody's names in small print below their silly names if possible? Maybe if we could have a draft copy (black and white is fine) on Sunday to double check with everyone again, that would be great. Also, I'll send you the second cameraperson's name soon.
