Rehearsal #16

November 10, 2013

Thank you, dancers, for all of your excellent work. Below I've included a few thoughts on who each of our characters are in relation to each other. Please be sure to read through them for each of our 15 minute rehearsals, and I can't wait to work with you.

CharactersIan:Please see this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCk_22ZwKfA) from 8:30-8:48 and note the unexpected throwing/falling feeling by Angela. I think what I'm seeing developing in your character is a combination of that feeling + Lenny's boundless love.

Molly:I'm feeling a "sister-that-comes-home-with-knee-high-black-leather-boots-at-age-17" that is now around age 25 character developing. I'm kind of seeing the older version of this: http://images1.fanpop.com/images/photos/1700000/10-Things-I-Hate-About-You-julia-stiles-1780319-640-480.jpg or like this person: http://images1.fanpop.com/images/photos/1700000/10-Things-I-Hate-About-You-julia-stiles-1781128-640-480.jpg (Note they're the same person, but different feelings from the images.

Shannon:I'm definitely feeling a clearing, clean, relieving, sorting character developing. I liked what you worked on from Sunday, it's starting to find that feeling. Here's the video that you and Alexandra made: http://youtu.be/roJ0ZaYX2V0.

Alex:I notice a solid (in the physical sense)/rigid, fully of energy like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Farkyz.deviantart.com%2Fart%2FRunning-Sonic-203588118&h=0&w=0&sz=1&tbnid=SpJ4bIX0_fhL8M&tbnh=208&tbnw=243&zoom=1&docid=WXlyC0mWpJnHfM&ei=R6mBUrn5HY_gsASfoICACg&ved=0CAEQsCU or this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fmlpchan.net%2Frp%2Fres%2F205869%2B50.html&h=0&w=0&sz=1&tbnid=Ok_rBCm9otNbJM&tbnh=192&tbnw=256&zoom=1&docid=ou8Ct1v7CTnzmM&ei=R6mBUrn5HY_gsASfoICACg&ved=0CAQQsCUbut at the same time, with the responsibility of an older brother.

Hannah:Interestingly, I'm seeing Bellatrix Lestrange. Not in an evil way, but in the same sort of shadowed physicality and estrangement from a family. An anonymous friend of mine has an aunt with whom he hasn't been in touch with for years because his father was the "bastard" child (or so he was called as the illegitimate son of a common mother) of the family. Recently they got to chatting again. I feel a similar experience developing for your character from beginning to end of the piece. Starting as a "bastard child" so to speak but through the years allowing age, distance, and forgetfulness to bring you back to the family again.

Thank you so much again for everything. You are all wonderful and if you have any questions about  character thoughts above, let me know!
