Performance Day!

December 7, 2013

I can't believe the day is finally here! I've so deeply enjoyed working with each of you, learning with each of you, and most of all getting to know each of you as wonderful people. I'm so amazed at the passion for life and learning that each person has shared with this project and I can't wait to see what comes next. Congratulations to the excellent performances, choreography, and lights last night at the composition showing.

Today is going to be wonderful. We've put together a fantastic production with a beginning, middle, and end and it rocks. Below is the schedule for the day, and a couple of notes on things to remember. Also, as many of our production team may not be able to be there for set up, I would be deeply grateful if any dancers might be interested/able to be there a little early at 3:00pm instead of 3:30pm to do the space set up.

A few things to remember...

Everyone:
The most important things for today are 1) have a significant amount of fun, 2) live each moment as fully as you possibly can, 3) do what you and love it, and 4) timelines :). This is your show and you are spectacular, therefore the show will be spectacular.

Dancers:
We'll have the chance to work on the ending ("Under Pressure") some after the run, but before we do it during dress rehearsal, please be sure to run through it a couple of times in your head to see if you can work out for yourselves where the kinks are and what you can do individually to smooth them out.

Please remember to bring all accessories (hairties, bowties, hairspray, makeup, jewelry, etc.) and anything else you may need. We'll have a food break at 5:00pm so everyone can have a bite of refreshment before the show.

Ian, we didn't have the chance to work on Rivendell together to go through a couple of facing changes that we made with the women several weeks ago and I think you're doing almost everything exactly spot on, but just check in with another dancer to make doubly sure.

Production Team:
Everything seems to be going wonderfully! A few notes on specific elements below...
Gabe, the videos look great. They look like they may be a little blurry on youtube. Is this due to the compression of the files?

Emily, lights are looking great. Before the show today, I'd like to ask for your help in setting up computers for Skype. Family members will be calling in to three computers at 6:00pm and 7:30pm that will be set up on risers in the back of the seating section. If you could make sure to pick up the calls and double check that family members can see as much of the performance space as possible, I would very much appreciate it. After that, at 6:15 and 7:45, if you could please send a PDF of the program to each family (I'll share the email addresses later), I would be very grateful as well.

Michelle, we're excited to see you at dress rehearsal at 4:00!

Foodies, please double check to make sure you have enough utensils and cups for both shows (92 of everything). You're doing great. Remember, you are the first sign of movement the audience sees as part of the show, so have fun, walk the walk and noodle the noodles! You're the start of the show!

Austin, if there's anything else that comes to mind regarding sound, keep us posted.

Alexandra, the sound is doing great. How are we on the volume for the intro and "Walk Don't Run"?

Thank you all for everything, your time, your commitment, your creativity, your excitement, and for simply being wonderful people. I can't wait to see you in a few short hours. If you have any questions between now and then, please don't hesitate to call anytime
